We started planning Olin’s 1^st birthday siguro mga August na, I know super late pero since wala naman kameng planong magkaron ng super bonggang party we thought na ok naman ang late preparation, since holidays is also approaching, thus making most of the people so busy with other things din naman.

With the venue naman, it was my SIL who takes care of it, from the reservation to the confirmation.

Had a flower and balloon theme kasi ever since I was pregnant with Olin, type na type ko ang flower theme and the balloon art decors. So there, kaya nag-come up kame with a flower and balloons theme.

Actually, it was sponsored by my SIL J kaya we never got a problem regarding the venue, we were supposed to held the party at my parent’s subdivision clubhouse but then again we had second thoughts kasi sa dami ng people that we know, siyempre, we couldn’t invite all of them! At pag nagkataon the party would definitely look like a barangay fiestahan! Lol.

Never had a problem with the venue, we were able to do everything sa place—gate was opened at 9am and we started decorating around 10am.

The place was big enough to accommodate all our guests, clean rest rooms, maaliwas ang place, mahangin and super pretty ang whole place. Sir Andrew Pacumio was uber nice din, he make sure na ok kame before the party.

Inclusion for the Adult food -- 7 main courses (Chicken Pastel, Pork Asado, Beef with Mushroom, Fish Fillet w/2 dips, Pork Bb-q, Chicken with green peas, Garden Fresh Salad), unlimited soda drinks, rice, Ice Cream. -- adult and kids table/chairs with complete theme skirting, buffet set-up, gift table, cake table, prize table and kids buffet station.

We were quite impressed with the service and presentation of Jasfer Catering services, it was our first time to have them as our caterer, and we were not disappointed at all. The waiters are all so bait and courteous—tapos what made us really liked them was up to the end guests they are all so masipag and still give their service at their best.

No problem encountered with them naman, andaming binigay saming food during our food tasting, replies immediately sa inquiries at naka monitor talaga yung head nila the whole time. The guest are even asking about the caterer kasi masasarap daw ang foods! --but of course there are still foods that were prepared by my mom, kaya mas masarap… J hindi kinulang yung food at meron pa rin kameng naiuwi kahit uber dami ng guests na dumating.

The table set ups were also great! Ang linis ng mga linens at ang buffet setting nila ang ganda! Pati mga guest nagandahan… at isa pang kinasurprise naming eh ang mga kiddie tables and chairs, lahat may cover, with theme skirting and centerpiece pa.

Ice cream was delicious! Hit na hit sa kids and even adults.

Because I know from the start na maraming kids ang invited we decided to have a separate buffet area for the kids with foods that they will surely love like spag and chicken. 3 viands lang niready ko for them kasi we still have food carts and desserts available.

Food Carts --- Cotton Candy & Waffle dogs ---from Party Time Philippines

With the cotton candy we got no negative feedback, all the kids love the sweet treat. Even the cotton candy man came as early as 1pm to the venue! But with the waffle dogs ---ah, it took them 48 years to be able to come up with a not-sunog waffle dog for the kids. I think kinulang ang butter sa mixture or something, kaya sunog ng sunog ang mga nagawa nila L my cousins were the ones who told me na di pa nakakapaglabas ng waffledogs yung in charge sa booth.so I approached them, aayusin daw nila agad.

One more thing --- yung food carts nila, I was so disappointed kasi di nila dala yung top part (bubong) ng carts! When I asked the man in charge, ginagawa daw kasi. I do not have time to argue or anything kasi para ano pa? so I said sige go na lang.

After 2 days, when di na ako busy, I texted Party time about it, plus the fact that Olin’s two piñatas were ‘accidentally’ brought back to their shop by the crew… the in charge replied naman agad regarding the issue and told me na they will give back P1k for the carts and the piñatas. I’m still waiting when they will be able to do that, kasi she told me that they will have it send nung Monday then Tuesday…pero it’s Wednesday na… we’ll see… mag-uupdate pa naman ako eh. At gagawin kong ibang font color itong part na ito.

Sure the husband and I were so surprised to see the outcome of the cake, since it was also our first time to order from Conchings..although I heard so much good feebacks about them even from N@W and GT forums. Pero since I have a design that wanted them to copy I gave them two photos in different angle para makuha nila talaga. Nung una the secretary told me na styro lang ang magagamit nila for the toppers and lollies pero nung we came back for the full payment she said na they can do a gumpaste design with additional cost nga lang, so we just paid the P300 additional para gumanda ang cake.lo and behold! Nakuha nila as in nakuha ang cake design na pinakita ko… thanks sis JOY! J

The guests was awed on how beautiful the cake was, there are even some who took pictures of it!

At di lang yun, ang sarap ng chocolate and marble cakes ng Conching’s! the following day, ubos ang two layered cake! And with all this, would you believe na less than P3k lang ang cake ni Olin including na ang delivery charge! Sulit dib a?

Wow! That was the first word that comes from the husband’s mouth when he saw early birthday morning. Paula brought the cuppies around 6am before she heads for work. Super ganda at super sarap! A total hit with the kids, wala na kameng naabutan after the candle blowing. Good thing I was able to reserve 1pc dito sa house.

motherhood changed me a lot. from interests to my priorities. before i used to care about other matters such as make ups, latest clothing trends and shoes. but now, i can say that those things are in the end list of my wants and needs. getting hands on and doing the stuff a mommy should do is my interest now, learning new things about taking care of my daughter is my priority. that is why being member of an online group like Mamasource is something i am so thankful for. with all those articles regarding mommy hood, child caring, advices and referrals from other moms who are also registered members of the e group. so c'mon fellow mommies join now and get involve!

Olin's 1st Bday Cake

here is what her cake looked like... had it ordered from Conching Sabale's Cake house at Imus Cavite... i wasn't supposed to order the cake from her but my friend Paula convinced me that they make delicious and decorative cake at a very affordable price. so i asked the husband to accompany me and search the 'it' place.. it didn't took us so long to finally get to the bake house, and i was able to explain to the in charge of what the cake should look like.. thanks sis JOY for your approval... you see, i asked her if i can copy Sandy's 1st bday cake... and she happily said yes. thanks thanks thanks again joy! :)

so there... here is Olin's 1st bday cake! and yeah, the cake was uber yummy... choco cake for the bottom part and marble on the 2nd layer :)

the topper made of gumpaste --- 'twas supposedly Styrofoam designed topper but i insist for them to create an icing/candy like topper... an additional charge equaled the request though ;p

and here is the whole cake look! an 18 inch chocolate bottom layer cake and a 9 inch marble on the top layer.
and not to forget... the yummy personalized cuppies baked and given by my kumare Paula! it was a hit with the kids and the adults too after the blowing of the cake...everyone rushed to get one!

while being so tamad today, i decided to open my Photoshop and try something new... you see, i'm a big time PS idiot... so i thought the fiddling will just lead me nowhere... but lo and behold! look what i was able to finish! :) wooohhhoooo!!!

loots

my daughter received so much gifts and even until now, there are still a few coming in from those who weren't able to attend the party. there is even one guest that said they had the hard time looking for the 'it' birthday present for my little girl. it took us a while before we were able to open her loots, not until Sunday evening. with so many presents Olin was so confused on what to play first. the above photo is just a piece of the many shots that i took while we were opening her gifts. speaking of baby loots, have you heard about Organic Baby Clothes and Products? i heard it's making a wave in the baby world products now, being so safe and hypo for the little ones skin, it is one of the best gift one can give for a baby.

Olin is sick

the kiddo is sick now... measles....or what most Pinoy refer as tigdas hangin... brought Olin to her Pedia today and it was confirmed. remember she has fever during her birthday, it lasted until yesterday, abruptly the fever went off last night and rashes just sprouted out of her face and her whole body this morning. that made me panicked and all, rushed her to the clinic and she was given a prescription of vitamin A doze. no need to worry said her pedia, it is a common thing for babies below 1 year. but expect the kiddo to be in her cranky mood...she is now actually. she wants to be carried all the time. pity baby... i hate seeing her like this... makes my heart hurt so much :(

artist dad

my father is a true blue art admirer, from sculptures to paintings to landscape. but with his busy lifestyle he has now, it seems impossible for him to focus on his likes. maybe someday, when he's already retire in his work, when financially able to buy for his collection. you see whenever papa goes home from after a half year work abroad he never misses to bring two or more art collection like charcoal and oil paintings. some of it are already framed while the others are safely kept. he said in time he will have it all framed and be displayed in our house. there are times that i cannot dig in to what he sees in collection such art reproductions but i know there are valid reasons behind all that. that is why, every occasion special to my father we make sure to give him something he really like, like portraits and paintings. last father's day we gave him his own framed caricature, and yes, he loves it so! last December is his 50th birthday and we weren't able to celebrate that special occasion because he's in Florida, we are thinking of throwing him a party or an intimate dinner when he comes home this February. and with that, i'm browsing sites like Art Blog to search for art collections i might give him for his present.

yes, you got that right! we can now easily withdraw our paypal money using our local bank accounts! :) yipeee! does this mean goodbye to eon?! i think so... hear this, with a withdrawal of more that P7,000 or less than $200 we will not be charge by any amount. but with less than P7k there will be a P50 charge... not bad pa rin di ba?! i mean with eon, there is this constant charge of $5 for every withdrawal transaction. so what are we waiting for?! let us add our bank details to our paypal profile and start collecting our hard earned moolah! yahooo!!!

oh yeah, there is still one glitch though, the bank code of some banks are not disclose, so you need to call their service hot line to have it, it is one of the needed items to be filled up at the paypal site.. and some are raving and ranting about the bank codes--which some banks doesn't disclose--howell, it's like cracking some secret numbers out of the da vinci codes huh?!

Olin's 1st Birthday ---sample pics

my childhood friend and Olin's Godmother called the other day straight from France, Italy! i was so giddy happy upon learning that she was on the other line, Rachelle is a Cabin Crew in one of the luxury ship base in Europe, yes, just like my father but with a different position of course. She's been in aboard for almost three months now, and knowing me, who have a super love with everything and anything about Europe she called to tell stories, all wonderful stories about the place! after calling her mom i was the one she called to tell me that she was able to go out after not experiencing her off time because she need to learn more things regarding her work that is why she opt not to experience the Italy adventure.
anyways, she told me that the France Hotels are so extravagant and a lot more luxurious in any hotels she was able to see, nope she wasn't able to check in because she only have few hours of free time. that she need to be back in the luxury ship before she freezes herself out and blame it to glee and excitement she forgot to bring with her a coat or a jacket. but her friend and also her cabin mate offers her a free stay in one of Paris Hotels when they were able to get a three day off sometime in november. isn't she so lucky?! she said that because of being the most famous tourist spot in the world Berlin Hotels and Germany Hotels are being tagged as the most expensive hotels. so it's really an advantage to get yourself an offered accommodation at prices lower than the direct prices.
my friend also told me that they can't wait to experience the beautiful lights the city is so famous about during night time. from her voice, i can feel how happy and fulfilled my friend are right now. i can't help but feel envy, a little. well, life has it's own way in making us happy and fulfilled right? maybe, who knows someday i'll get to feel the cold season of France...my dream city, together with my family. who knows...

i also got those cutie turbans to match her dresses.. ah... i'm one excited mommy here! :)

cruise lines

my father called yesterday confirming his coming home date. we were both happy and sad when we heard the news, sad because he wouldn't be here to celebrate her grand daughter's birthday but happy because in a month's time he'll be here with the family again! he was supposed to have an early vacation, but the management didn't allow him to do so, you see working in a cruise ship sometimes can be so demanding, manpower are at great need during vacation and holidays hence, requesting for early leave is a no-no. but with all the hard work and strictness in work, having to work in travel cruise is one of the best as they say. that is why more and more companies are coming up with cruises all over the world, specially now, summer and vacation is near, Hawaii travel cruise is one of the best preferred cruise destination. you can check out TravelStoreUSA.com and cruiselocators.com for more information regarding this one.

Calaruega wedding

a picture shot of the bride while walking towards the church entrance at the chapel of Transfiguration, Calaruega. my cousin and i waited for the entourage march before entering the chapel so we can capture some shots of the bride. anyways, while the soloist sings his piece i can't help but remember my own walking down the aisle moment some two years ago... it was the lightest feeling a woman can feel, as to what i'ved felt that time, it was like walking in the clouds.. just loving the every step towards the one i'm going to spend my whole life with... i am so happy for my friend Donna... having her dream wedding into a reality.
anyways, i was speaking to my husband the other night about the wedding the took place earlier, since he wasn't able to come with us, i just relay everything to him like how beautiful the place was, that it was almost perfect with all the outdoor lighting in every posts, the fountains, the green and well trimmed grass, clean fresh and cool air. ah, perfect!

a friend of mine will soon be migrating to the States, for work and living. while one of our friends who lives there is now trying her luck to find an experienced North Fork real estate agents that will take care of the place the migrating friend can get, you see, one of the many perks she has from her work is having to avail your own place to stay. and with the New York kind of living, looking for a place to stay is so hard if you do it alone. that is why hiring an agent that knows the ins and outs of the city is a must. you just have to spend a little more for the hassle free looking, that is. anyways, the the friend who lives there told my migrating friend that it wouldn't take that long until she gets her own pad in the metro. and everyone is so excited for her arrival. while, we, are sort of sad... another friend will leave, but we are happy of course.

yeah i know, Olin munching plastic is soooooo baaaadddd.... bad mommy! but i can't figure out how she was able to get this piece from somewhere. what made the husband so angry was when he saw me busy fiddling with the camera! ah, he thinks i'm neglecting the brat! oh no... but when i ask her to give the plastic she doesn't listen and she put it in her mouth pa! before i get the plastic from her, i snap one shot! one lang... promise no more plastic.

just found out that a friend finally call it quits after her long stay in the company, anyways she also decided to become a full time mother as i am, you see, she started having second thoughts right after i resigned from work. since her husband also has a job and they are now thinking of creating a small business that can be a home base so she can take care of the kids as well handle the business. i asked her what business might they start, she said that they could start a sports retail shop where they can target the expats foreigners who are into different hobbies, they can start up by selling fishing rods, golf balls, tennis rackets and other accessories. oh well, i do hope for the success of my friend's coming soon business!

updates

the party is only five days away! oh my, my stress level is getting high, guess what? we are not yet done sending the invites! blame it on the car's trip to get conked! the husband was able to bring it home just this morning, so tomorrow we will finish the distribution. thank God for text messaging, was able to confirmed and remind suppliers of my additional instructions and requests. and yeah, we still haven't got the little girl foot wear for her gown's! will try to scout another nearby mall for a silver shoes that can match her two gowns. anyways, i got an email from a friend, and guess what, she bought Olin a sheepskin boots! lol, i asked her when and where will my daughter could wear that?! oh well, we might get invited for a costume western party and she can prop that up! hahahaha...

next project

now that the apartment construction is almost done, my mom is thinking of having the family house get detailed in a way since it has been years after it's construction, and they already finished the projects that was included in the long term plan of the family. mama one time tells us that if budget will permits this year, they might have some home improvements renovation of the house, they were thinking of having it extended and putting up another room in the second floor. well, we will see about that when my father comes home for his vacation next year.
