It has been said though not really proven that covering a wedding is one of the hardest and trickiest for a photographer. Something that really sunk unto my mind thus explains why I let down a few invitations to shoot their special day. Until late last year when I braved and conquer my fear, chin up and clenched fist I said yes. And honestly, it was really, really hard but FUN! my team enjoyed every single moment of the entire wedding event aside from the fact that there are no Door Crashers or uninvited guests that arrived! haha. kidding aside, it was indeed a very memorable experience for my team, at least we can handle a wedding now!

Ok, so I’ve been a slack when it comes to updating my blogs and telling stories about what’s going on with me for the past weeks specially before and after the holidays. Honestly, my hands are full (and I’m thanking heavens for that) and I missing terribly my blogs! Actually, there are times when I just wanted to stop whatever I’m doing just to open my virtual writer and write down whatever thoughts that has come, but then again, I am busy with the real world and I have no choice but to keep overflowing thoughts and stories until now :) Anyways, I betta’ stop blabbing and show you these photos that my sister and I took late last week, it’s an engagement session of our January 28 wedding couple taken at Colossians Garden in Tagaytay. We’re glad to have a very fun and responsive subjects that they even brought so many props like picnic stuff and even a bike complete with thrust bearings and all! I’ve been asked by the husband for so many times now about my Christmas wish list. But since things got so busy for the past weeks, I wasn’t able to think and decide on what I really want to receive this special occasion. Until last night, when I realized that there are still times when I can’t put myself to sleep, sometimes getting a good slumber is near to impossible and so now, I think what I want for Christmas is this well-raved about white noise machine or sound therapy system that can lull one to sleep with soothing high fidelity sounds that are medically proven to create a good night sleep!

It’s actually has to do with my favorite arrogant dj Mo and his denial ex-girlfriend’s break up and all. And with that, he had all his things like computers, cameras, furniture and music stuff like dj headphones up for bid for his friends and even twitter followers. I was actually tempted to bid on his camera lenses and headphones but decided not to, as for sure a lot of bidders will come to life and fight for his things. Anyways, I wonder if he’ll be gone for good or come back in the future to continue with his radio show that I have been missing for days now.

So I've been out for like what, nth days. Days of limited online time, thus making me cram my dues and tasks, blogging like hell for almost five hours now and really, it is exhausting. Actually, my body has been drained from all the errands that we finished for two days, had to commute and carry heavy stuff to and from our whereabouts also. But there were sad news too, wasn't able to find fast chargers that my sister and I terribly need for our toshiba laptop computers. You see, something is wrong with our current adapter thus making us unable to charge fully my unit. So my sister suggested on bringing my laptop with me since I'd be looking for compatible adapter, unfortunately, nothing fits my model unit. So all the while, the heavy laptop is being carried by me! Which makes my shoulder aches up to now! I should have listened to my friend who told me to check out sites where computer and laptops accessories can be found at super cheap prices! And since we do a lot of ordering online, I can order from the said site and have it shipped to my friend's address who usually does the filling of our boxes. So the ending of my hunt? I ordered from the site earlier today! something I should have done some days ago.

The husband and I are already thinking of what perfect gifts to give our wedding godparents this coming Christmas. Though we already gave out pastries the past few years, we are still considering to give edible presents as for sure their tables will be full of so much stuff from other people as well. But this fruit basket gift ideas are so enticing to look at and perfect as center pieces during family dinners. So there, might give baskets of assorted goodies, hopefully we'd be able to find affordable but well packed baskets at the mall soon!

Documenting 11.11.11

Friday marks the 11^th day of the 11^th month of 2011 (11.11.11) and a lot of people say that this day is lucky. Some even say that this is a lucky date to tie the knot as the numbers 11.11.11 stands for one husband, one wife and one soul in Chinese beliefs and this translates to a marriage that will last forever.

But even if you don’t believe in superstitious beliefs such as this, you can even consider this day special because of the rarity of the event. 11.11.11 will never occur in history again so it is also nice to document how this special day in your life turned out.
So how can you document 11.11.11 to make it more memorable?

One way is to document the entire day through pictures and create scrapbook layouts, which tells the story behind each picture. Or if you are not into scrap booking, you can just take pictures and upload those pictures in image hosting sites such as Flickr or Instagram so you can place tags and stories for each picture.

Mom has been bragging me for the nth time about gardening stuff that she wants to order from the states, unfortunately no one is available to scout and do all the research thing for her. Now it may look as easy as a point and shoot but for those who are passionate about it, taking pictures is more than that. It is a way to look beyond what the eyes can see and capture the essence rather than an image.

This is one of the reasons why portrait shots are very challenging. As a photographer you would need to grasp the message behind those stares and smile. The picture should speak for itself. Here are some techniques to get a perfect portrait shot:

Play with the angles. Most portraits will have the camera shooting right in front of the subject on an eye level. Explore other options that could change the perspective of your shot by going at a different angle.

Establish an eye contact. It is important to let your subject be comfortable during the entire photo shoot. In taking a picture, let them look at another direction away from the camera lens for each shot.

I was doing some clean up on my online photo albums when I saw these churches facade shots I took during the Lenten season last April. Can’t really tell if I was able to blog about these but anyways, here I am now. Actually, the churches nowadays are getting fancier and are truly using high end sound and lights equipments already. Something that made my dad really surprises as he found Bose and Denon speakers scattered or shall I say, well lay out all over the this one particular church in Tagaytay complete with all the works like hdmi video cables, projectors and incredulously huge white board! Yes, churches now are definitely well equip to serve their congregation and the people well.

Pine is a softwood which is commonly used in the manufacture of furniture including interior doors. Softwoods come from cone-producing, evergreen trees and other common examples include fir, cedar and spruce. Pine is a popular softwood for interior doors as it grows relatively quickly compared to other trees and it is easy to work with, reducing the cost of the final product. This low cost also makes it popular with customers who need interior doors that will fit a low budget. Pine is a pale coloured wood that can be manufactured into a range of different styles and sizes or interior door. However, as it is usually featured as a low cost option the range of pine interior doors available tends to be restricted to the more traditional designs such as two, four and six panel interior doors although companies are also starting to produce more contemporary versions to meet the demand for interior doors which are cheap but still stylish.

Although good quality pine interior doors can look quite attractive, interior doors using a lower grade timber are more common and this results in most pine interior doors featuring unsightly knots and burs and an uneven colour tone. This is why pine interior doors are the most popular choice for interior doors that are going to be painted; they are cheap to buy and if the grain is simply going to be covered with a layer of paint then the customer does not have to worry about purchasing the highest grade of pine interior door. However, pine interior doors do not only tend to be inferior in terms of their aesthetics but also in their quality. Pine creates a less durable interior door than others that can be found on the market and so buying a pine interior door purely on the basis of price may turn out to be a false economy as they may need replacing more regularly. There is also the fact that the majority of interior doors made of pine are mass produced in China with little regard for the look and quality of the finished product which can cause quite obvious inconsistencies in the look of the doors which may be particularly apparent if hung in doorways which are positioned close to one another.

It should also be taken into account that there are different types of pine that are used for interior doors. The most common of these are clear pine, knotty pine and pitch pine. There is little visible difference between these although as you would expect knotty pine contains the most knots and is considered the least attractive of the three. It is therefore also the cheapest. In comparison, interior doors made using clear pine have a more consistent grain and so are aesthetically more pleasing. Pitch pine is very similar in appearance to clear pine although it has a tighter grain which reflects its higher density – this density makes it a stronger timber and so interior doors made of pitch pine are the most expensive type of pine interior doors.

Overall pine interior doors are good for customers with a tight budget or if the grain of the door is not important, for instance if it is going to be painted over. The inferior quality of pine interior doors should be considered although the possibility of compromising by purchasing an interior door made of pitch pine is also a factor to think about.

So my dad won’t stop asking me on how to get social security disability insurance or something. I wonder what came into his mind that he keeps on inquiring on that for days now. Probably because he’s now more conscious on his age that he thinks, sooner or later he’d need a fallback of some sort just in case something happens to him when he gets old. Hopefully, nothing bad of course. Oh yes, I’m definitely back on the loop! After slacking for days (er, or was it weeks?!)… here I am, blogging again and updating my photo archives online! woot! What the in the world happened to my weekend?! Is it really Monday already?! Oh man. Time truly flies so fast, or maybe it’s because my hands are so full during the last two days, thus explains why I feel so weird now. Anyways, not really complaining here you know, in fact, I’m very much thankful for the events that I was able to capture. Good thing also, my sister is always available to back up my coverage – turns out there are lots of her high school buddies at the reception making our work a way lot easier because we were able to make them pose and do lot of happy-shots! Oh, did I mentioned that most of them are nurses? bunch of medical related people it was! Can’t even help myself over hearing them talks about medicines, medical step stools and other equipments as well as medical jargons that I can't really dig! It was my cousin’s wife (who happens to be studying at home and taking up an online it degree ) recommended me to the celebrant’s mom some weeks ago to be their party photographer and after a few chit chats over the phone, we then agreed on the package that she would get for her son’s birthday. I on the other hand, was able to conceptualized on my to-be shots for a while, just when I’m doing some test shots of the resort, the celebrant’s family arrive and after a few talks I then started with the picture taking. The birthday girl was not on her mood at first so I asked the husband and mommy-again-to-be to pose for an impromptu maternity portraiture…. and here are two teasers!
